Teesdale u3a On The National Stage
Jane Mathieson has been announced as the new Council Representative for the North East Region from April 1st. Jane has been a member of Teesdale u3a since 2015, you will know her for all the work she does in organising the day trips for us and currently she is the treasurer for Teesdale u3a.
But her life is about to get much busier. Jane together with Kathy Clegg from Prudhoe, have the substantial job of liaising with the forty-one u3as in the region and their 10000 members. The role of the Council is to act as a link between the Third Age Trust board and the members. Briefly the Council Representatives are there to listen to the members, to pass on ideas to the board, to offer support to local u3as, to share best practice and support and promote u3a wide initiatives.
This involves consulting with as many of the u3a members as possible and reporting back to the council on any concerns there are and to share experiences. As well as four council meetings a year, the Representatives will act as a spokesperson for the movement and be a key contact to further the interests of the u3a.
Good Luck Jane
