Chairman’s Letter – May 2020

Hello everyone, I hope you are all making the best of the circumstances we find ourselves in.

The committee has been getting together – last month by email circulation, and this month (really pushing the boat out) by video link which worked very well.

It is not yet practical to suggest that our monthly General Meeting goes back in the diary, but we are keeping it under review and we still have the speakers in the diary from September onwards.

As you will have seen from the web site, some Groups have managed to keep their members involved whilst remaining ‘isolated’ and I would encourage you all to find ways of maintaining the interests you have chosen, involving others in your Groups and keeping those social contacts going.

Regarding the AGM, you will be contacted in shortly about a series of actions that will allow us to comply with the requirements of our Constitution and at the same time defer the AGM until enough people feel they are able to attend.

In the meantime, the majority of the committee are happy to continue in their roles. Some have given notice that they would like to stand down once a semblance of normality returns and we are looking for a Treasurer and a Minute Secretary. There will be scope for overlap so that the willing new incumbents will be able to quickly get up to speed. Please volunteer.

So, take advantage of the fine weather we are having (it will probably be raining by the time you read this), keep yourselves safe and comfortable and stay involved.
